Searching for Goodness follows a team of filmmakers as they journey to Antarctica to interview scientists about the devastating effects of climate change as they consolidate their scientific work with their own spiritual beliefs. The main characters will be Bessy Adut as the main interviewer, a celebrity host who is a spiritual skeptic, the scientists who live and work in Antarctica and other famous environmental activists such as Jane Fonda and supporters of other spiritual practices such as David Lynch.
As a fictional reference, we imagine the two hosts being like Agents Mulder and Scully from the X-Files. Bessy will be like Mulder, the character who believes in the supernatural and “mind over matter” while the celebrity host will have a more practical and scientific approach. Our debates will mirror those of our audience who stand on both sides of the fence, with the main objective of said debates being the highlighting and celebration of different viewpoints, ultimately building bridges and/or reaching across the aisle in the process.
I believe when people educate themselves on different views other than their own, we can learn to be more tolerant towards one another.
I’d like to focus on possible solutions as we’ll have a better idea about how to help control climate change, keep our oceans clean, grow our own food and take steps to preserve and protect our natural resources. Anything is possible.
I believe our film is going to wake viewers up from all ages and creeds to the dangers that the human race is facing right now, the correlation of these issues to our past mistakes and the lives those mistakes cost, so that we can all work together to create a brighter tomorrow.
